FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will my candle burn?
Coconut wax is a very slow, clean burning wax. Burn rates are approximate, but consistent if burned properly. All of our candles have been tested thoroughly to ensure proper burn and wax melt. On average our wooden wick candles burn at the rate of 1 ounce every 7 hours. So a 4 oz candle will burn up to 28 hours while our 10 ounce candle will burn up to 70 hours. These burn rates are approximate as there are variables that can increase your candles burn rate, such as air flow, drafts, and proper wick trimming. See our FAQ on Care & Safety to ensure you get the most burn time out of your candle.
How do I care for my wooden wick candle?
The first time your Willowood candle is lit always allow a pool of warm wax to form across the surface of the candle; this might take between 30 minutes to a couple of hours depending on the size of your Willowood Candle, but it helps to create an even burn, promotes longevity and maximizes fragrance performance.
• Be very careful not to let any debris from the wick (or anything else) fall into the candle.
Are your candles all natural?
While we make every effort to ensure a safe and toxic free product, we do not promote our products as "all natural". We do however offer an extremely clean burning product, free of toxic additives, is eco-logically sound, environmentally friendly, paraffin free, paraben and sulfate free and made using sustainable resources. Consumers should be aware of any candle labeled"all natural", or "organic". Do your research and be informed of what you are burning in your home.

Are all your candles phthalate free?
No. While the majority of our stock are phthalate free, we do still stock some fragrances by request that we have not been able to obtain phthalate free. Our suppliers are working on changing their formulations to remove pthalates and we are anxiously awaiting the new releases. In the meantime, we do disclose in the product descriptions which candles are phthalate free and which are not. Read the product discriptions carefully and contact us directly with any questions or concerns.
What is meant by "clean burning" candle?
Natural wax candles are marketed as "clean burning" because they burn without emitting the toxins attributed with burning paraffin wax. Paraffin wax is a white or colourless soft solid, derived from petroleum, coal or oil shale. Essentially, paraffin is a by product of petroleum and when burned will emit those same toxins into your home that accompany the burning of fossil fuels. Many people who can not tolerate paraffin based candles, find they enjoy natural wax candles without suffering familar ailments like nausea, headache, irritated eyes, nose, throat or aggravation of allergies.
